Ep 18: Is it Time for a Digital Detox?
What would happen if you deleted any email apps from your phone? Or all social media? You might feel both relief and panic at the thought, but does one feeling stand out more than the other?
Our phones keep us constantly connected and accessible, which can feel necessary for our lives and careers - especially as physicians. But at the same time, they contribute to stress, anxiety, and, ironically, disconnection. Even considering work obligations, is there another way?
Dr. Philippa Houghton asks herself this question often, and it has led her to make some major life changes. She joins Dr. Sarah Lea to share her journey of stepping back from social media to improve her mental well-being. Together, they explore how we as physicians and our families can better manage screen time - because let's face it, we can't expect children to practice focus and engagement with the world around them if we aren't modelling it ourselves.
